Porktacular!

If you keep Kosher you may want to skip this blog entry. Seriously … OK, I warned you.

I take a lot of pride in my heritage but I think it’s no secret that I’m not very religious, for me it’s more about knowing where I came from. The one big tenant of my heritage I had not broken thus far is the prohibition on pork. Not out of religious devotion but more a deeply held psychotic fear that if I ate pork a rabbi would come running out of the woods and beat me with a Siddur (Jewish hymnal for you goys) to within an inch of my life (Of course no Rabbi would treat a Siddur like that … or me).

But traveling is a lot easier when you have fewer diet restrictions so I've put that fear behind me now. But I didn’t feel you could break a 35 year streak with a breakfast trip to McDonald's, it had to be an event! Therefore: Pork Party! A Pork heavy potluck in my condo's party room.
It was a great way to get sent off and a lot of fun. There was a great variety of dishes and I’d have to say Bacon was the one I liked most. I don’t think I’m going to become a ravenous pork eater but it opens up possibilities.

After dinner there was dancing

Your bizarre fear of rabbis running out of woods explains your tendency to live in large cities.
Power in numbers, my friend.
It also explains why you've never been to the west coast.
