All the tricky details of my travel plan were handled by The Adventure Travel Company They're across the street from Mountain Equpment Co-Op on King St West.
I highly recomend them for any kind of travel to fringey places. You can get a competative flight to New York anywhere but this is my second flight to the south seas and both times they got me great prices and advice. Now here are the concrete points of my itinerary:

Toronto to Hong Kong
Jan 13th 10:30pm - 7:35am Jan 15th

7 hour layover. Hopefully enough time for a quick city bus tour.

Hong Kong to Auckland Jan 15th 3:35pm - 7:40am Jan 16
Cathay 117L (11hrs)

I take the NZ Magic Bus Tour system for 3 weeks from the north tip to the south tip and leave from the middle.

Christchurch NZ to Brisbane AUS Feb 6th 4:00pm - 4:45

Brisbane 1 night Stop Over. I'll see some night life.

Brisbane to Cairns Feb 7th 10:35am - 12:50pm

Cape Tribulation 3 Day tour including a scubs diving lesson at the Great Barrier Reef. I've got a waterproof shell for my camera already.

Darwin to Brisbane 12:45pm - 5:00pm which connects to Brisbane to Sydney 5:45pm - 8:15pm March 1st
