The Hard Part of Storing a Cat is Covering Him in Bubble Wrap
Gus has been dropped off at Nettie's so she can look after him while I'm gone. I wanted to do it early so that Nettie would have a week to call me if any issues rose up while he settled in. He hates changes of enviroment and went immediatley to hiding under a bed.
It's also a good chance for her son Thai to learn about pets. He was very excited. Maybe a little too excited. We had Gus locked in the bathroom just so he would get used to where his box would be but we think Thai may have let Gus out. Although Thai claims the door was already open. Hey, he's six. We drilled him a little about looking all around before going through doors. Especially the front door. I think he'll do just fine after he gets over the intitial thrill.
It was suprisingly sad to come home to an empty house. I'm used to going out of town and leaving him for a while but I've never lived in this place with out him before.
I just hope I'll be able to convince Nettie and Thai to give Gus back afterwards.

Just distract them with the offering of a guinea pig and then steal Gus back when they're busy being smitten. Guinea pig or wiener dog. Either will do: secret weapons of master illusionists/sleight of hand artists for centuries.
